TRUCK SCALES INSTALLED ON SLOPING GROUND

Truck Scales manufactured by Accuweigh’s QWM branch in Brisbane were recently installed at the SEQ Hauliers depot at Hemmant, QLD.

Due to the end-to-end slope of the ground where the truck scales were positioned, a semi-pit foundation was used to minimise civils costs for the client.

Truck Scales using an above ground foundation are the most cost effective design but can be very expensive to install on sloping sites due to the extensive earthworks and extra concrete required to comply with Weights & Measures Regulations. To provide access to the load cells, the foundations of these truck scale’s includes a shallow pit positioned on both sides of the weighing deck.

This design kept the concrete deck of the truck scales as low as possible to ground level to minimise both the required length and height of the approaches for easier truck access.  QWM’s truck scales are fully galvanised and measure 28 metres long and 3.5 metres wide and configured for a dual range weighing capacity of 80t.

QWM truck scales are designed for heavy duty operations featuring oversize cross beams and heavier steel mesh in the concrete decks to ensure structural integrity for an extended working life. Accuweigh/QWM has extensive weighbridge experience and has been in operation for over 50 years supplying and servicing truck weighing equipment and heavy industrial scales all over Australia and the Asia Pacific.
