A silo monitoring system was recently supplied for use at Valley Poultry in South Australia’s Cockatoo Valley.
The silo monitoring system tracks the weekly feed usage and also verifies correct feed delivery weights are being received from suppliers.
The silo monitoring system included 4 x 10t load cells, integral silo restraints and load cell mounting kits which are bolted to a concrete footing with the silo legs attached to the top plate. Due to the low profile of the load cells in the silo monitoring system hardware, the overall height of the silo was not significantly increased which kept installation costs minimal.
The weight readings of the silo monitoring system are generated by an Accuweigh 5000 digital weight indicator which carries full trade approvals. The silo monitoring system is this application is also fitted with high/low level alarms to alert staff when the feed silo is nearly empty.
