Portable axle scales are currently being used to ensure truck axle weights are not exceeded during pickups of scrap metal in remote locations of Western Australia.
The portable axle scales are carried in the truck to enable the driver to check his own axle loadings if there is no other suitable means of weighing the truck.
Accuweigh’s Perth branch supplied the portable axle scales to Simsmetal’s Spearwood branch in Perth. The portable axle scales are fabricated in aluminium for light weight and durability as required in this demanding weighing application.
A protective carry case contains the weighing electronics along with an internal rechargeable battery to allow truck axle weights to be obtained in remote areas without available mains power. An optional printer can also be included in the carry case to allow axle weight tickets to be printed as hard copies of each axle weight.
Dummy plates of the same height as the portable axle scales are also available to increase weighing accuracy by allowing all mating wheels/axles to be at the same height. Available in various weighing capacities to suit all truck axle and tyre sizes.
