An onboard weighing system fitted to a waste collection truck was recently certified as legal for trade use by Accuweigh’s QWM branch in Brisbane.

The onboard weighing system was fitted to a front lift waste collection vehicle manufactured for SITA by Superior Pak in Bundaberg. To ensure high weighing accuracy was achieved by the onboard weighing system, Accuweigh’s service staff fully tested the waste collections vehicle to its legal weighing capacity using certified test masses as required by Government Regulations.

Accuweigh’s on-board weighing systems can be approved for trade use to allow truck waste collections companies to charge clients for the actual weight of waste collected. Although the waste industry has not yet moved to charging for waste collections based on weight, SITA will be using trucks fitted with the trade approved onboard weighing systems to investigate client queries on waste collection charges.

Accuweigh’s LFT 1500 legal-for-trade onboard weighing systems comprise six heavy duty load cells mounted on the truck chassis to weight the net contents of waste. A digital weight indicator mounted in the truck cab in clear view of the truck driver generates the weight readings for the onboard weighing system.

Accuweigh is Australia’s largest industrial weighing company and is the exclusive Australian distributor for the PM range of onboard weighing system and vehicle weighing equipment manufactured in the UK. Accuweigh has branches in all mainland states providing complete after sales support on all onboard weighing systems.
