DUAL LANE FOOD X-RAY SYSTEM INCREASES PRODUCTION OUTPUT

Food X-Ray Inspection Systems

A dual lane x -ray inspection system was recently installed to assist with increased product output for a contract packaging company in Port Lincoln, South Australia. Supplied by Accuweigh’s Port Adelaide branch, the x-ray inspection system can inspect two separate product lanes simultaneously for increased throughput.

The two product lanes may be of similar or different items as the PD model x-ray inspection system is fully capable of scanning both lanes without sacrificing speed or detection accuracy. Port Lincoln Tuna has a variety of food inspection systems installed, including both metal detection and x-ray inspection systems to enable them to provide the exact level of contaminant protection required by clients.

Although substantially more expensive to purchase, x-ray food inspection systems are far more capable in detecting a wide range of contaminants such as glass, stone and other organic contaminants. The scanning performance of metal detection machines is also compromised when scanning metal foil packs for metal contaminants, whereas x-ray based systems are not.

Another benefit of AST’s XR series inspection systems is the ability for the X-Ray system to simultaneously function as a high speed checkweigher by comparing the food density in each package against the mass of a reference sample to an accuracy of 1% (depending on product). For full accountability, the AST x-ray inspection systems have archival storage of actual product images with the last 20 rejected products able to be displayed or reprocessed by the operator without interrupting production.

The XR-3000PD Food X-Ray Inspection Systems are Australian Made and manufactured by Applied Sorting Technologies in Melbourne. Accuweigh™ is the exclusive Australian distributor of all ASP’s x-ray inspection systems for the food industry. Accuweigh's eight branches across Australia have extensive industry experience with all facets of food inspection systems.
